Glenn Austin, 45, Reedsburg garageman, was killed Tuesday night when a truck he was driving skidded into a North Western Road freight train at the Main St crossing in Reedsburg.

Austin was accompanied by his son, Glenn Jr, 16, who suffered lacerations on the head and minor bruises. He told investigators his father saw the train and slammed on the brakes and the truck skidded. The truck was owned by the W H Berning garage, where Austin had worked for some years.

Survivors include his wife, five children, his parents, Mr and Mrs Louis Austin, two brothers, Merle and Dean, all of Reedsburg.

Dr O V Pawlosch, Sauk county coroner, was to investigate the accident today, Claude Frye, traffic officer and Harry O'Brien, Reedsburg police officer, were at the scene Tuesday night.
