Fannie and Judge John Watts were married in December 1788. They were both members of the Baptist Church. She's described as "an exemplary, pious woman".

At 13 years of age she was orphaned. Her father, John Sebree, was a private in the Virginia Regiment during the American Revolutionary War. He was killed during the last battle of the War at Yorktown, Virginia, in 1781.

Then, in 1785, her mother, Mildred Johnson also died. Young Fannie was raised to womanhood by her uncle Colonel Robert Johnson, who was the father of Richard Mentor Johnson, Vice President of the United State under Martin Van Buren.
