ELERA ALLENSWORTH IS DEAD

Elera Allensworth, well known resident of the east part of Edina, died at 1:30 o'clock this morning, Mar 09, 1950 at the Grim-Smith Hospital in Kirksville. He was 84 years old but was active until recently. On Tuesday of last week he was taken to the hospital where it was found that there was a blood clot in one of his legs. The leg was amputated Friday. Mr. Allensworth was a son of William and Purlina Allensworth and was born south of Knox City on Oct 21, 1865. On Sept 08, 1887, he was married to Miss Lottie Shouse in Knox City by the Rev. Henry Compton. They lived in Knox City for a time then went to a farm southwest of there. Later they moved to a farm northeast of Edina. In 1928 they came to Edina. Until three years ago Mr. Allensworth kept a horse and did odd jobs and plowed gardens here. He is survived by his wife; two children Harvey Allensworth and Mrs. Agnes Cloat of Edina; three grandchildren and a great- grandson.
The body will be brought to the home here Saturday morning and funeral services will be held there at 2 o'clock sunday afternoon. Burial will be in the Knox City Cemetery.
