Daughter of Susan Majors and Jack? Geddings? Mary Melvina Reeves' death certificate lists her birth location as Alabama, as does the 1900 US Census, but the 1870, 1885, 1910 & 1920 censuses list it as Florida. Her mother was enumerated on the 1860 US census in Coffee County, AL and on the 1870 US Census in Leon County, Florida so Mary's birth could have been in Alabama.

Her mother's 2nd marriage was to Robert Gray, her mother is listed as Susie Gray on Mary Melvina's death certificate.

Mary M. Giddeons, age 5, b. FL, was enumerated on the 1870 US Census in Leon County, Florida in the household of her grandmother, Sarah Major(s), & her mother, Susan Giddeons, age 20.
Her mother is buried in this cemetery (Susan Gray's DOB is engraved 1859 on her marker but it was at least 10 years earlier). See Mary's step-father, Robert Gray's memorial for more information.
Mary's half-brother, Perry Edward Gray (1887-1948), is buried at Whiddon Lake Cemetery in Wakulla Co, FL.

Mary M Geddings married James Reeves on 25 Jun 1883 in Leon County, Florida. They were the parents of eleven children.
Daughter not linked below is their 1st child, C. Melissa Reeves (b. Jan 1885 - d. after 1920 but before before her father died in Jan 1930). Melissa Reeves married Thomas M Smith in 1902 and had at least 7 children.

For some unexplained reason Mary is listed as Rebecca Reeves (age 64, b. abt 1866 in AL, widowed) on the 1930 US Census in Spring Hill, Leon County, FL. In her household was son, Robert W (Rupert) Reeves, age 21; grand daughter, Eula Smith, age 21 (daughter of Melissa Reeves Smith, Eula Smith Lock Mathers); great grand daughter, Christine Smith (Nancy Christine Lock Sarvis Roberts), age 2; grand daughter, Alice M Reeves, age 17 (daughter of Nonnie Reeves Smith Gray, Alice Mackery Smith Howard); boarder, Melton Gray, age 18; and daughter, Vina Reeves, age 33.
