Charles Wilson enlisted as a private in Company H of the Fourth Michigan Volunteer Infantry on June 20, 1861, for 3 years of service. He died at the First Division, Fifth Corps Hospital, at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, as a result of the wounds that he received in action in the "Wheatfield" at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, on July 2, 1863.
