KARL H. VONDERAHE
AGE: 95 BALLSTON LAKE, N.Y.
Karl H. VonderAhe, 95, of Ballston Lake, passed away early Monday morning, Nov. 1, 2010.
Born Oct. 14, 1915 in Schenectady, Karl was the son of the late Karl and Louise (nee: Dufel) VonderAhe.
He was raised and educated in Ballston Lake, later attending the American Institute of Baking.
During World War II, Karl proudly served with the U.S. Army earning several decorations.
He was an active member of Emmanuel-Friedens Church in Schenectady for many years and also attended Albany Street Methodist Church in Schenectady.
He was a member of Beukendaal Lodge #915 F&AM, Sigma Bodies Valley of Schenectady AASR and Cyprus Shriners.
He was employed by General Electric Co. in Schenectady as a steamfitter for many years until his retirement.
In addition to his parents, Karl was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth (nee: Fagel) VonderAhe; his brother, Albert VonderAhe; and his sister, Ade-line Blitch.
Survivors include his niece, Judy Bornemann of Ballston Lake; his cousin, Eleanor Heffner of Albany; his dear friend, Jean L. Haiss of Ballston Lake; and his devoted caregivers, Dropadie Mercer of Latham and Ivan Gwenden of Schenectady.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4 until the funeral services at 2:30 p.m. at Baxter-Andrew Funeral Home, 1867 State St., Schenectady, N.Y., followed by interment at Park View Cemetery, Schenectady.
