Last rites for John Edwin ASHLEY, 46, were conducted at the First Presbyterian Church in Canadian with the Rev. Louis Koerselman and the Rev. Smiley Johnson conducting the service.
Burial was in the Canadian Cemetery under direction of Stickley Hill Funeral Home.
Masonic graveside rites were held.
Mr. ASHLEY died at his home shortly after returning from work, of an apparent heart attack. He had undergone heart surgery several years ago.
He was a member of the Canadian Masonic Lodge No. 264, AF&AM in Logan, Kansas and of the First Presbyterian Church.
Surviving him are his wife, Mary Ann, two sons, Russell of Canyon and Mitchell of Canadian, one daughter, Chris, of the home; six sisters, Mrs. Ollie STANTON, Mrs. Della STANTON, and Mrs. Loretta HOEN, all of Logan, Kansas; Mrs. Roberta ANDRE of Springfield, Missouri, Mrs. Eugenia COTTON of Phillipsburg, Kansas, and Mrs. Mary SEEGER of Hill City, Kansas.
Pallbearers at the funeral rites were Nuke McCABE, Ray SUTTERFIELD, Glen Bill WALKER, Virgil LYONS, George ARRINGTON and John RAMP.
He was a member of the Easter Star in Canadian and of the Mended Hearts Association.
Survivors also include his mother-in-law, Mrs. Helen WARE of Dallas and his sister-in-law, Mrs. Jean ASHLEY of Russell, Kansas.
Honorary pallbearers were Ben HORTON, Rhea WILSON, Dale PAGE and Bill POPHAM.
