Charles Taylor Polk was the son of Andrew and Martha Kimball Polk. Andrew and Martha are both buried in Leon County, Texas. Charles grandfather was Charles Polk b.1760, a revoluntionary war soldier buried in San Augustine, TX.

Charles T. married Mary Elizabeth Denton on Dec 21, 1848 in Cherokee County, TX. She died in 1872.
2nd marriage was to Theodicia Logan on Sept 7, 1876 in Cherokee county, TX

***John POLK(b. 1739 PA) married Eleanor Shelby in 1758. John served in the revolutionary war as a Captain in the militia.They were the parents of Evan Shelby Polk,CHARLES POLK, Eleanor Polk, John Polk, William Polk and Taylor Polk.

*Charles Polk "Civil Charlie" (b. 1760) married Margaret Baxter. He served in the American Revolution and served as a Sergeant in a mounted spy company from Stewart county in TN during the War of 1812 era. He died in San Augustine county in 1848, burial site unknown.

*Andrew Polk (b.1789)(d. 1856)Andrew married Martha Kimball (b.1793 TN)in 1815. Andrew and family moved from Tennessee to Missouri and then on to Texas. According to the census, they were in Howard county, MO during 1830 and 1840. They settled in Cherokee County, Texas in the early 1840's. Andrew and Martha moved to Centerville, Leon County, Texas, and lived there until their deaths. They are in the Makamson Cemetery at Leona in Leon County, TX.
The POLK family seemed related to almost everyone who was anyone in deep east Texas politics, as well as to national figures like President James K. Polk.
