SPRINGFIELD SUN OBITUARY ­ 1950
Mrs. Lula Noonan Blandford, age 75, died unexpectedly at 10 o'clock Monday morning, October 23, 1950, at the family home in High School Court, this city, of a heart ailment. She had been in failing health the past several years but her sudden passing came as a severe shock to her family and friends, and they are legion. The body was prepared for burial at the Hale & Polin Mortuary and removed to the residence Monday afternoon to await final rites. The daughter of George and Margaret Logsdon Noonan, long deceased, Mrs. Blandford was born, reared, and spent her entire life in this community. She was a woman of many Christian virtues, known and loved by a wide circle of friends. Surviving are her husband, Kent Blandford; two daughters, Sister Anna, Chicago, IL., and Mrs. Julian Kidwell, Springfield; four sons, Thomas Blandford, Chattanooga, Tenn., George E. Blandford, Louisville; R.K. Blandford, Jr., Glendale, Calif.; and Edward Blandford, Lebanon; two brothers, Emmett Noonan, Louisville; and Thomas Noonan, Detroit, Michigan. Funeral services were conducted at St. Dominic's Catholic Church at 9 o'clock Wednesday morning, the pastor, the Rev. Joseph E. McPherson, officiating. Interment was in the family lot in St. Rose Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Frank, Louis, and Ray Osbourne, Martin Blandford, Thomas Montgomery, and Damian Warren.
