Born in Abbeville County, she was a daughter of the late Ira Herbert Sr. and Lillie Calhoun Ferguson. She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, and was a Sunday School teacher and a member of the choir. She was a retired Medical Office Assistant.

Survivor: A brother, Ira Herbert Ferguson Jr., of Aiken. Predeceased: A sister, Carolyln Ferguson.
