The husband of Anna (Steele) Gibboney. The Steele family settled in Bedford County about 1780. The Gibboney family was in Bedford County before the Revolutionary War. George and Anna moved to Everett in October 1894 from Saxton, PA, when Mr. Gibboney and Mr. O. F. Davis established the Cottage Planing Mill Co. In 1900 Mr. Gibboney became the sole owner. Mr. Gibboney supplied water and electricity to Everett borough until 1927, and was the builder of the Everett Elementary School, the Bedford County Jail, and rebuilt the Barndollar Methodist Church and the Evangelical and Reformed Church, both in Everett. Many other Everett homes and dwellings, including the family home, were among those built by Gibboney. Among the then-far-advanced features of Gibboney's homes were steam heat supplied to the homes from the planning mill. He operated the Cottage Planing Mill until his death.
