Norris was a member of Grottoes Church of Christ and a U.S. Air Force veteran. He, along with his wife, owned and operated Shoemaker's Servicenter in Penn Laird from 1972-1987.
On Sept. 5, 1959, he married Beverly Adkins Shoemaker who survives. He is also survived by a son, Barry J. Shoemaker of Grottoes; a daughter, Kelly S. Dean, and husband, Rick, of McGaheysville; a brother, Hunter "Jack" Shoemaker of Prospect, Ky.; and four sisters, Frances Davis of West Mifflin, Pa., Carolyn Armentrout of Harrisonburg, Shirley Reedy of Mount Crawford and Yvonne Shoemaker of Grottoes.
The family will receive friends for a time of fellowship and remembrance on
Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009, from the hours of 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Grottoes
Church of Christ (U.S. 340 South) Cremation will be performed by Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg and a private burial will occur at a later date.
