He was born July 20, 1924, in Lorain and was a lifelong resident of the city.

Coteff was employed at U.S. Steel's Lorain-Cuyahoga Works for 25 years, retiring as a clerk in 1974.

He was a member of United Steelworkers Union Local 1104 and Disabled American Veterans Louis Paul Proy Chapter 20 and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Mullen Murray Post 451; and attended Ss. Cyril and Methodius Orthodox Church, all in Lorain. He enjoyed his family and was a history enthusiast who particularly liked studying Harry S. Truman.

He graduated from Lorain High School in 1943 and served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the Pacific during World War II with the rank of corporal

Survivors include his sister, Helen Evansco of Lorain, and nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Svetco and Velico (nee Stoianoff) Coteff; and brothers Robert Coteff and Boris Coteff.

Friends may call Wednesday from 9 a.m. until time of service at 10:30 a.m. at Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 E. 31st St., Lorain. The Rev. Paul Monkowski, pastor of Ss. Cyril and Methodius Orthodox Church, will officiate. Burial will follow Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
