He was born March 30, 1923 in the Day Community of Anderson County, Texas to John Lee and Clara Ben Parker Gilmore. Clyde graduated from Elkhart High School and The University of Texas at Austin. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corp after graduating from high school and served with the 8th Air Force in Europe. He was a Member of the United Methodist Church and a Mason. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Virginia Ward and Ruth Johnson. He is survived by his brother, Darwin L. Gilmore Sr. and wife Emma Lou.
