Mr. Michael A. Shearouse - STATESBORO - Mr. Michael A. Shearouse, 43, died early Wednesday at the Medical College of Georgia Medical Center after a short courageous battle with cancer. He was a native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County and graduated from Bulloch Academy in 1981. He attended Georgia Southern College and Savannah Technical College. Mr. Shearouse was in the United States Navy for six years and served on the Nuclear Sub USS Flying Fish. He achieved the Rank E-4 as a Cryptologic Technician. He served in the Gulf War and was awarded the Good Conduct Award, Navy Achievement Award, and the Letter of Commendation. He was employed in Electrical Sales with W.A. Bragg Co. Inc. in Statesboro. Surviving are his parents, Frederick and Bonnie Shearouse; two aunts, Joann (William) Brown and Ouida Rushing, all of Statesboro; his step-grandmother, Lillian J. Brown of Metter; and cousins, Chip and Lane Godbee of Statesboro and his faithful companion, Lucy. Visitation will be held Friday from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at Hodges-Moore Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Saturday at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Hodges-Moore Funeral Home with Dr. Charles Houston and Rev. Thad Harvey officiating. Burial will be in Eastside Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be the employees of W.A. Bragg Co. Inc. and members of the Bulloch Bowman Hunting Club.
