Dorothy A. Sprinkle, 74, of Urbana, entered the gates of Heaven peacefully, with her daughter, Sharon at her side, at 8:15 p.m. Friday, October 29, 2010 in The Ohio State University Medical Center, Columbus. She was born February 21, 1936 in Champaign, County, OH, a daughter of Walter Montgomery and Hazel Fern (Eaton) Mattox.
Dorothy loved spending time with her granddaughter, Zoe Florence, whether it was taking her to school, playing with her in the outdoors, taking her shopping or many other activities.
Survivors include her daughters; Shirley Jones of Urbana, Diane Sparks of New Carlisle, Joyce Penhorwood of Mingo, Patricia Reiker of Bellefontaine and Sharon Sprinkle of Urbana; sons, Robert and Tommy Sprinkle, both of Urbana, Jimmy Sprinkle of Woodstock, Roger Sprinkle of Mechanicsburg, Ronald Sprinkle of Dayton; step sons, Clyde Sprinkle of North Lewisburg, Michael Sprinkle of Springfield; numerous grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Clyde D. Sprinkle, her second husband, Rufus Watkins; daughter Catherine Stiver; sister, Viola Gibson, Mary Harvel; brothers Harry Mattox, Bill Mattox, and Charles Mattox.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 from 5-8 p.m. in the WALTER & SMITH FUNERAL HOME. 642 S. Main St., Urbana, where the funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 3, 2010.
Burial will follow in Nettlecreek Cemetery.
