Helen Winifred (Fletcher) Kambo, age 79, of Polson, died Saturday afternoon, August 5, 2000, at Evergreen Health and Rehab Center in Polson, from natural causes. She was born May 16, 1921 in Livingston, the daughter of Carl Fordyce Fletcher and Lela Maude (Meeker) Fletcher. Helen grew up in Livingston and graduated from Park County High School.

She worked for Montana Power for 20 years as a bookkeeper. During that time she met Simon Kambo and they were married on Helen's birthday in 1964. She and Si lived in both Butte and Polson until Si's retirement, when they began living in Polson full-time. She enjoyed her family and friends, family history, Montana history, gardening, baking, reading, her church and enjoying the beautiful view of Flathead Lake and the Mission Range from her Polson home. She was also a past president of the Sons and Daughters of Montana Pioneers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl Fordyce and Lela Maude (Meeker) Fletcher; husband, Si; two grandsons; two great-grandchildren; a goddaughter and numerous cousins.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation.

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, August 8, 2000 at 2 p.m. in the Presbyterian Church in Polson, with the Rev. James Dickinson officiating. Inurnment will follow at Livingston's Mountain View Cemetery on Wednesday, August 8, at 10:30 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. Harlan Durgan.

Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Grogan Funeral Home and Crematory in Polson.
