HAMPTON - Graveside services for Philip Samuel Burgess will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, at Bermuda Cemetery in Dillon, S.C. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, at Cooper Funeral Home in Dillon.
Mr. Burgess, 78, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010, at Sentara CarePlex in Hampton, Va.
Born in Dillon, S.C., March 30, 1932, he was the son of the late Joseph Burgess and Addie Mae Sanderson Burgess. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, and was a retired civil engineer.
Survivors include his daughter, Susan (Damon) Bloom of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; sister, Carrie (Chester) Buffkin of Martinsville, Va.; brother, Jim (Ruby) Burgess of Charleston, S.C.; loving friend and companion, Sharon Pettit of Newport News, Va.; grandchildren, Kisha (Charles) Godfrey, Jeremy (Rachel) Bloom, and Kendall (Cathy) Bloom of Florida; several great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
