Lewis Downey, an employee of the Wabash locomotive shops for more than 17 years, died in the Wabash hospital at 10:20 o'clock Sunday morning. Death followed an illness of five days and was caused by pneumonia.
Mr. Downey was born in Dalton City, Sept 4, 1888. His father, M.L. Downey, formerly was in the monument business.
Lewis Downey came to Decatur when he was two years old and passed the remained of his life here.
He was a member of the St. Thomas Catholic Church, He leaves his widow, Mrs. Kathryn Downey; his mother, Mrs. Martha A. Downey and a brother and three sisters. The brother is Charles Downey of Elgin. The sisters are Mrs. William Junkins, Mrs. Laura Bess and Mrs. Hazel Lewis, all of Decatur.
The body was taken to Moran's funeral home. Friends may call in Moran's after 12 o'clock Monday. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday morning in St. Thomas church. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery.
