Ernst Knorr was an Officer of the Deutscher Sicherheitsdienst (intelligence agency of the SS), who was known to be extremely cruel. He was involved in torture and the execution of members of the Dutch resistance movement. The Headquarter of the SD in Groningen was "het Scholtenhuis" also known as the house of terror. Knorr died of suicide in prison after the war, however some other German prisoners said that Knorr didn´t commit suicide but that he was tortured and killed in prison by Dutch prison guards.
