John Drewe

Born c.1691, John Drewe was an early resident of colonial Elizabethtown, NJ. His brown sandstone stele has a moderately ornate profile, and what appears to be the image of a fountain with flowing waters crowning and surrounding the soul effigy in its tympanum. The inscription (see below), which has been confirmed by an 1892 transcription of local gravestones by William Ogden Wheeler & Edmund D. Halsey, states that he died in his 80th year.
