Funeral Held Tuesday for Mrs. John Payne. The death of Mrs. John Payne occurred Saturday evening, June 23, at Mooreland hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Payne, with her husband, moved to Mooreland 17 years ago from Quinlan. She is survived by her husband and one son, Waverly H. Payne of Sharon, Okla.; one brother, Wave Allen, Taloga; and two sisters, Mrs. Asenath Thompson, Wellington, Kans.; and Mrs. Rose Hanson, San Jose, Calif.; and also three grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 26 at the First Baptist Church in Mooreland with Rev. Henry Wall officiating. Burial was in the Waynoka Cemetery under the direction of Knittel Funeral Home. Sarah Ann Allen, daughter of Thomas R. and Emily J. Allen, was born January 11, 1889 at Kiowa, Kansas. She passed away at the Northwest Community Hospital, Mooreland, Okla., June 23, 1962, at the age of 73 years 5 months and 12 days. She moved to northwest Oklahoma in the year 1893, and remained in this area most of her life. She was united in marriage to John A. Payne on April 23, 1910. To this union was born one son, Waverly H. Payne. When a young woman, she united with the Baptist church at McAlister, Oklahoma. She was a member of the Rebekah lodge and the Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include her husband John of Mooreland, Okla.; and son Waverly and wife Helen and three grandchildren, Linda, Keith and Kathy Payne all of Sharon, Okla.; also one brother Wave Allen, Taloga, Okla.; two sisters; Mrs. Asneath Thompson, Wellington, Kans.; and Mrs. Rosa Hanson, San Jose, Calif.; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
