Sylvia Landes Adams, 87, of Route 2, Harrisonburg, died May 28, 1992, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg after a lengthy illness.
She was born Feb. 25, 1905, in Rockingham County, and was a daughter of the late Benjamin S. and Grace Bowman Landes.
Mrs. Adams, a lifelong resident of Rockingham County, attended Pleasant Hill Elementary School, and was a graduate of Dayton High School.
She was a member of the Pine Grove Church of the Brethren, where she was a pianist and Sunday school teacher.
On Sept. 18, 1923, she married Ora W. Adams, who died Feb. 17, 1987.
Surviving are two daughters, Lucille Lamb of Chantilly, and Charlotte Sciota of Eden, N.C.; two sons, Gene Adams of Stanley, and Nelson Adams of Harrisonburg; two sisters, Lorene Armstrong of Linville, and Vesta Adams of Mount Crawford; two brothers, Melvin Landes of Mathews, and Olin Landes of Harrisonburg; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
The Revs. Alton McDaniel and Wayne Pence will conduct the funeral at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home, with burial in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
