A memorial service for Vesta Landes Adams, 83, Mount Crawford, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Bridgewater Church of the Brethren, The Rev. Robert Alley will conduct the service. A private burial will be held earlier in the day.
Mrs. Adams died Dec. 5, 1994, at Camelot Hall Nursing Home in Harrisonburg. She was born Oct. 6, 1911, in Rockingham County and was a daughter of the late B.S. and Viola Grace Bowman Landes.
She received her teaching certificate from State Teachers College, now James Madison University, and taught school in Rockingham County for two years. She was a member of the Bridgewater Church of the Brethren.
Surviving are her husband, David M. Adams; three sons, James David Adams, Staunton, John Wayne Adams, Dayton, and Lowell William Adams, Columbia, Md.; four daughters, June Adams Gibble, Elgin, III, Donna Kay Adams Rittenhouse, St. Louis, Mo., Mary Grace Adams, New York, N.Y., and Karen Adams Wyrick, Huntingdon, Pa.; one sister, Lorene Landes Armstrong, Linville; two brothers, the Rev. Olen Landes, Cross Keys and Melvin Landes, Mathews; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. Friday at the Kyger & Trobaugh Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bridgewater Church of the Brethren for the Children's Ministry, 400 E. College St., Bridgewater 22812.
