Funeral services for Lawrence Gandy, who was killed Monday night in an accident at the Powell No. 1 Price well in the Opelika Field, were held Wednesday afternoon at 5 o'clock at the graveside in the City Cemetery.
The services were conducted by the Rev. John Duckett.
Pallbearers were Jesse Wood, Jack Magee, James A. King, Odell Whitworth, Byron Trammell and Hooks Hall.
The Hassell and Foster Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Gandy, employed by the Delaney Drilling Company of Dallas, was born on July 9, 1912 in Milam County, and had been a resident of Athens since 1941.
Surviving are his wife; one son, Lawrence Edward Gandy; one daughter, Barbara Jean Gandy, all of Athens; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. L.M. Gandy of Talco; five brothers, Roscoe Gandy of Loco Hills, New Mexico, James Gandy, Jack Gandy and Ben Gandy, all of Talco and Neal Gandy of Athens; and one sister, Mrs. Buck Robinson of Cayuga.
