FISCHER, ROBERT FRANK "BOBBY", 63, lifelong resident of Pilot Point died at home Monday, November 25, 2002. He was born June 7, 1939, in east Pilot Point (in the family home on Berend Road, once considered in Grayson County) to Frank and Loraine Ann Zipperer Fischer. On August 19, 1961, he married Jeanne Hoffman in Windthorst, TX. Mr. Fischer was retired from Texas Instruments where he was employed for 33 years. He was an Engineering Technician. He was a member of the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Pilot Point, holding various offices including Men's Club, Cemetary Association, Parish Festival coordinator, Knights of Columbus, St. Thomas Parish Council, St. Thomas Choir, eucharistic minister. He also belonged to the Pilot Point Booster Club and was a former member of the Pilot Point School Board. As a young man he picked cotton and grew up near a peanut farm; he was an altar boy until attending his high school years at St. John's Seminary in San Antonio TX. There, he was #66 on their basketball team; his love of sports also included baseball, football, horseshoes and fishing, he liked swimming at Lake Texoma, camping and kept a vegetable garden for many years. He liked coffee & chat with locals at the DQ, after retirement. A service was held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, November 29, at St. Thomas Catholic Church. Burial was at St. Thomas Cemetery in Pilot Point. The Rev. Mel Bessellieu officiated. Huff-Slay Funeral Home of Pilot Point was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Tim Wood, Kenny Hoffman, Brent Ballard, Corey Fischer, Damian Hoffman, and Bruce Zotz. Rosary Service was at 6:00 P.M. Thursday, November 28, at St. Thomas Catholic Church. Memorials may be made to the Pilot Point Bearcat Booster Club or the St. Thomas Men's Club. Survivors include his wife, Jeanne of Pilot Point, two sons, Curtis Fischer of Dallas and Craig Fischer of Plano; three daughters, Sheryl Wood of Plano, Sandy Wood of Bogata, TX and Stacey Meyer of Plano; seven grandchildren, Tim and Patrick Wood of Plano, Liz and Samantha Wood of Bogata, and Delton, Megan and Abigail Meyer of Plano; one brother, Gary Fischer of Pilot Point; four sisters, Marilyn Self, Mildred Boerner, Janice Pietrosky all of Pilot Point and Carol Ballard of Denton; Numerous Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Fischer in 1983 and his mother, Loraine Ann Zipperer Fischer in March, 2002.
