Mr. Mello, a native of Duplin County, was the son of the late Francis Rogers Mello. He was employed at Southern Produce for 38 years. He was a veteran of the US Army having served in the Vietnam War.
He is survived by three sons, Joseph Matthew Mello, William Owen Mello, and Jonathan Lloyd Mello all of Faison, a brother, William "Billy" Mello of London, England, a half-sister, Beth Elise Cromer of Faison.
The family recieved friends Tuesday, March 4, 2008 from 7-9pm at the Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home in Clinton and other times at the home.
The funeral services were held at 2pm, Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at Faison Presbyterian Church with Rev. Paul Rose officiating.
Burial was made in Faison Cemetery, Faison, NC.
