William W. "Bill" Wilharm Sr., 88, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, October 26 at Allen Hospital of natural causes.

He was born February 5, 1922 in Waterloo, son of Richard E. and Emily V. Aitken Wilharm. He married Bette Bourassa on September 25, 1945 in St. Augustine, Florida, and they later divorced. He married Betty M. Prahm on February 25, 1969 in Nashville, Tennessee.

Mr. Wilharm began his career as a fireman with Waterloo Fire Department, then worked as a labor liaison with the Black Hawk County Labor Temple. he became the director of the Red Cross, Mason City, and later worked as the director of the United Way for Cerro Gordo County. He retired after working as property manager for Young Development Company, Waterloo.

He was a World War 2 Navu veteran, and was a member of several orginizations, including Becker-Chapman American Legion Post 138, Sertoma, and the Exchange Club.

Survived by his wife; three sons, William W. Jr. (Ellen) of La Crosse, Wisconsin, Bruce E. (Becky) of Waterloo, and Brian L. (Kathlyn) of Chino Valley, Arizona; one daughter, Beverly J. (James) Mason of Waterloo; two stepsons, Craig A. Prahm of Mason City, and Randy G. (Ardis) Prahm of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren; six great-grandchldren; three stepgrandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; one brother, Robert (Marguerite) Wilharm of Waterloo; and one sister, Ann (Kent) Standish of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by one brother, John; and one sister, Mary Rhinehart.

Services 11:00 a.m. Friday at Cedar Valley Community Church, Waterloo, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Full military rites conducted by Becker-Chapman American Legion Post 138, Sullivan Brothers VFW Post 1623, and Iowa Army National Guard Honor Detail. Public visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel, and for an hour before sevices Friday at the church.
