Suffering pneumonia for several days resulted in death to Mrs. Catherine Wilkins, one of Keya Paha County's pioneer women.

Mrs. Wilkins, who passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Otto Thiede, was among the early residents of this country, who experienced hardships and witnessed many interesting developments of northern Nebraska.

Catherine Ann Crawford was born March 25, 1865 in Clark County, Iowa and passed away July 7, 1938 at the age of 73 years, 3 months and 11 days.

On October 27, 1881 she was united in marrige to James Perryman Wilkins. To this union three children were born, one dying in infancy. In 1883 they moved to Furnas County, Nebraska where they spent one year then moved to Long Pine in 1884. In the spring of 1885 the family moved to Keya paha County where they resided until the time of death.

She leaves to mourn her departure one son, Flaud Wilkins; one daughter, Mrs. Otto Thiede; four grandchildren, Mrs. Ruth Worden, Mrs. Iola Clausen, Jennie Lou Wilkins and Lucy Mae Thiede; two grandsons, Edwin and Earl Thiede, and three great grandchildren, Donald Clausen, Mavis and Wayne Worden, also a number of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held in the Methodist Church in Springview on Sautrday, July 9 at 2 o'clock. Rev. Schulz officiated at the serives. Interment was made in the Rogers Cemetery.
