Britten F. "Slim" Elmore, 80, of McComb died March 31, 2007, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center, after a lengthy illness.

Visitation is 2 p.m. today at Hartman Funeral Home of McComb until services there at 3 p.m., with Dr. David Millican officiating. Burial is in Hollywood Cemetery Mausoleum.

Mr. Elmore was born June 9, 1926, in Magnolia, Ark., to Abb and Hattie Dodson Elmore.

He was a retired Service Manager for Sears. He was of the Methodist faith and a U.S. Army veteran.

Mr. Elmore was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and six sisters. Survivors include his devoted wife of 58 years, Ella Wood Elmore of McComb; one son, Britt Elmore and wife Evelyn of Madison; one daughter, Teresa "Tesa" Van Norman and husband Michael of Summit; one brother, Barge Elmore and wife Louise of Minden, La.; two grandchildren, Jim Martin and Joshua Martin of Hattiesburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Honorary Pallbearers are Marc Wood, Jimmy Lee Wells, Martin "Marty" Shorey, Joshua Martin, Jim Martin, Michael VanNorman, Parker Dixon and Hugh "Boots" Stringer.
