Lawrence R. "Hon" Frey, 79 of Lake City, died Tuesday July 28, 2009 at Manchester Presbyterian Lodge, where he had recently resided. He was born July 20, 1930, in North Girard (now Lake City), a son of the late Charles and Clara Harmon Frey. He graduated from Girard's Rice Avenue Union High School in 1949 and went to work on the Frey Family Farm on Route 5 in Lake City, and continued farming throughout his life. He attended the Lake City Presbyterian Church and enjoyed traveling, fishing, boating, bowling, carpentry and sports. As a young man he played football for the Erie Jets following high school. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Howard Frey and James Frey and his wife Mary Lou; also by two sisters-in-law, Esther Frey and Mary Lou Frey. Hon will be sadly missed by his family, which includes his wife Beverly (Wheeler) Frey whom he married, April 6, 1952 in East Springfield, also by two daughters and two sons and two brothers; three grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Daniel R. Edder Funeral Home, 309 Main St. East, Girard. Services will be held there on Saturday at 10 a.m., Rev. Charles McClung officiating. Burial will be in the Girard Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Lake City Presbyterian Church, Seeley St, Lake City, Pa. 16423 or to the Manchester Presbyterian Lodge, 6351 W. Lake Rd., Erie, Pa. 16505.
