Jennie Mae Schrock, 89, of Akron died Sunday at the Washington County Nursing Home in Akron.

Mrs. Schrock was born Aug. 8, 1912, at New Raymer to Ira and Jennie (Butler) Williams. She received her elementary education in the school taught by her mother. She lived with her aunt and uncle, Jessie and Robert Boyd, in Nunn from 1930-31 and graduated from Nunn High School in May, 1931.

On Jan. 28, 1935, she was married to Pete Schrock in Akron. They lived on a farm at Thurman from 1935 to 1948. She taught in the Capitol Hill School in 1944-1946 and Pleasant Hill School from 1946-1948.

The Schrocks moved to Hesston, Kan., in 1948 where she taught in the Hesston Grade School and graduated from Hesston College.

In 1955 the Schrocks moved to Canon City, where she taught school for the next 16 years. She attended summer school and night classes and received her master's degree from Western State College in Gunnison.

In July, 1971, the Schrocks retired and moved to Akron. She was an active member of the Methodist Church and enjoyed playing the piano in church and at the nursing home. She helped organize and was active in the Dorcus Quilting Circle.

Mrs. Schrock loved to work in her yard and was especially proud of her roses.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; her daughter, Fern; three sons: Ervin and two infant sons, Paul Allen and Merle Dean, and her brother, John David Williams.

She is survived by three children: Vernon Schrock of Kokomo, Ind., Cheryl Oswald of Wakefield, Neb., and Shirley Anderson of Lakewood; 16 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made to the Akron United Methodist Church or to the Washington County Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. from the Akron United Methodist Church with Rev. Ramon V. Robledo officiating. Interment will follow in the Akron Cemetery with Brenner Funeral Home of Akron in charge of arrangements.
