Mary Amelia (Back) Puffer Hogles was the daughter of Nicholas and Katherine Stephens Back. Alvah D. Puffer was her 1st husband. Alvah died in 1920. Sherman Sylvester Hogles was her 2nd husband. She was his 3rd wife. They were married March 18, 1925. Sherman died February 21, 1938.

HOGLES-PUFFER.--At 7 o'clock Wednesday evening, March 18th, Sherman Hogles and Mrs. Mary A. Puffer were united in marriage at the parsonage of the First Methodist Episcopal Church by Rev. Arthur Moody. The ring service was used. The couple were unattended. The bride was attired in a gown of green crepe and black satin. After a short wedding trip they will be at home to their many friends at 187 East State Street, Lowville.
