Father of Arthur James (Cactus) Duggam
Funeral services were held Monday, April 22, at Trinity Baptist Church, Watonga for Calvin J. (Cal) Duggan who died Thursday, in Watonga at age 81.
Duggan was born March 8, 1904, at Binger to Maggie and Arthur James Duggan and had resided in Watonga most of his life. In Watonga he was a former mayor, a past member or the city council, Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis Club and the IOOF Lodge, and member of Trinity Baptist Church.
He was manager of the co-op elevator in Freedom for two years and then became manager of Farmers Mill and Grain Company in Watonga until he retired in 1969. He attended Watonga Schools and Hills Business College.
Duggan was an avid fan of little league and high school sports. He married Lizzie Beneda at Geary on Nov. 24, 1932, and they were the parents of two children.
His parents; a brother, William (Bus) Duggan, and a half-brother, Luther McClure, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Lizzie, Watonga; a son and a daughter; a half-brother, Roy McClure, Gasville, Ark.; a step-brother, Richard McClure, Idaho; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
The Rev. Jim Newkirk officiated at the services and interment was in IOOF Cemeter, Watonga, under direction of Wilkinson Mortuary of Watonga.
