Mary Grooms, 99, of Greeley and formerly of Akron, died Dec. 1, 2003, in Greeley. Visitation is Dec. 6 and Dec. 7, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Brenner Funeral Home in Akron. Funeral services are Dec. 8 at 10 a.m. at United Methodist Church in Akron with Rev. Ramon Robledo officiating. Burial will follow at Akron Cemetery .

Mrs. Grooms was born Nov. 7, 1904, in Duroc, Mo., to George and Mary (Burns) Allen. She moved to Colorado as a teenager.

On Oct. 22, 1921, she married Lee Roy Grooms. After the death f her husband, she lived in Brush and later moved to Greeley.

Mrs. Grooms was a member of Akron United Methodist Church.

She is survived by daughters Ruby Walton and Marjorie Thompson; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by husband Lee Roy Grooms; sisters Ida, Laura, Martha, Blanche and Georgie; brothers Finis, Ross, Henry, Major and Lee; and daughter Vina Lorraine.
