Henry J. Feltham, Pioneer of Longmont, Passes Away Monday
Henry J. Feltham, respected old-time resident of Longmont and well known throughout the county, passed away at his home southwest of Longmont Monday morning, June 8, 1936.
Mr. Feltham had been in failing health for some time and his death although not unexpected by members of the family came as a distinct shock to relatives and friends.
He was born in Fontonelle, England, June 6, 1847, and reached his 89th birthday last Saturday, June 6.
On February 14, 1936, Mr. Feltham and his wife celebrated their sixth-fourth wedding anniversary.
Mr. Feltham located in the Longmont district, coming here from South Dakota in 1881. The family had lost nearly all of their property in the Missouri flood, horses, cattle and poultry being drowned in the disaster. When the flood subsided, they found the farm land washed and hopelessly damaged and decided to go farther west and start anew. With their three children, Lottie, Elizabeth and Gilbert, they moved to this city.
Helped Build Court House
Mr. Feltham followed the carpenter trade for some years, securing a position with the Pauly-Gule Construction company. While employed with this firm, he supervised the building of the jail cells in the old Boulder court house which was destroyed by fire a number of years ago.
For the past 26 years he had resided on the farm near Longmont.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. H. J. Feltham, two daughters, Mrs. John E. Clark and Mrs. Fred Tracey, both of Longmont, and one brother, L. L. Feltham of Salmon, Idaho.
Mr. Feltham was a member of the Longmont lodge No. 29, Odd Fellows and was a past grand of the lodge.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon, June 10, from Proh's Funeral Home, Rev. Wagner officiating. Odd Fellows will be in charge of the services at Mt. View cemetery, where interment will be made.
