Mrs. Newton was born in 1890 in Knoxville, Tenn. She spent her early life in Oklahoma and was married to Tom Newton in Grow, Oklahoma. in 1906. She and her husband were engaged in farming and cattle raising and moved to Longmont in 1918. They have lived here ever since. the Newtons observed their 67th wedding anniversary the day of her death.
Mrs. Newton was a charter member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Longmont.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, John R. Newton and Tom R Newton jr; both of Longmont, and Vernon a. Newton of Thornton; two daughters, Mrs. Amy Wright of Longmont and Mrs. Mary Stanley of Carter Lake, rfd, Loveland; two sisters, Mrs. Jennie Rees and Mrs, Sally Winder both of Longmont; eight grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; three great, great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be Friday, March 30 at 3 p.m. at Lewellen funeral home with Rev. Rex L. Douglas officiating. burial will be at Mountain View cemetery.
Friends may call at the Lewellen chapel tonight. Contributions may be made to the memorial fund at First Church of the Nazarene.
