Born Olga Kristin Osterholm, Ms. White, 65, was a freelance medical writer from New York City. Survived by daughter Allison Vadhan, Ms. White was going to California to visit friends. She was valedictorian of her high school class and graduated from Cornell University in 1957. She was fluent in several languages, loved to read and was knowledgeable about a variety of music. She frequently attended concerts, ballets and plays. Although most of her writing appeared in reputable medical publications she also occasionally wrote under a pseudonym for the National Enquirer tabloid. She loved a book published in 1996 by a struggling author acquaintance but wasn't sure it would appeal to a wide audience so she bought one hundred copies of the book and gave them to friends. The book, "Angela's Ashes" by Frank McCort, won the 1996 Pulitzer Prize for biography. (Bio by: Melanie)
