My mother was a hard working woman. She was the oldest of her brothers and sisters and was given the task (as many young girls were in that era) to care for her siblings while her mother (a nurse) worked at a hospital. A major event as a teen was the day her baby brother (Roy) was very sick and as she was running to the hospital with him in her arms, he died. That was very hard on her emotionally. In 1969 my father was hurt badly and had suffered a brain injury. Between my mother working and us kids taking care of dad at home, we nursed him back to health. We were living in Jeffrey City, Wyo at the time of the incident and moved to Moab Utah once Dad was able to travel. Mom moved back to Moab so she would have help with dad and be closer to family. Later Mom and Dad would move to Grants N.M. where mom worked at various jobs and the last job she was working at was at a quick shop store. She died from an infection that had entered the brain via the ear.
She cooked in the school at Gas Hills, Wyo, Cooked in Redens Bar & Grill in Jeffrey City, Wyo and cooked for The Westerner in Moab, Utah.
