Private, Company C, 7th US Cavalry. Killed in action during the Battle of the Little Big Horn, in which General George A. Custer and most of the 7th Cavalry were killed.

Born in Kuvno, Russia (now Kaunas, Lithuania), he immigrated to the United States in 1873, and on 15 Sept 1873, he enlisted in New York City for the 7th Cavalry. His previous occupation was a clerk. He was 5 feet, 8 1/2 inches tall, with blue eyes, light hair, and a fair complexion. His company, under the command of Captain Thomas Custer, was in the Custer column and he was killed on Last Stand Hill. Following the battle, the bodies of the dead soldiers were buried where they fell. In June 1877, the bodies were reinterred into a mass grave at the top of Last Stand Hill.
