She was the daughter of D. O. Dix and Rachel Elizabeth (Brake) Dix.
Alice married John E. Kern and the couple became parents of Minetta M. Kern
(March 1875), Paul D. Kern (April 1879) and Willie G. Kern (June 1882). All
three children were born in West Virginia.
Alice died in Sherman, Texas, on March 1, 1915. Her death certificate
incorrectly states that she was buried in West Hill Cemetery. Her grave is
actually located in Friendship Cemetery along with others in her immediate
family.
