After the birth of their first child Morris Thomas, Elisha returned to his property in Indiana, leaving Polly behind in Woodford County, Kentucky. Elisha returned to Kentucky, got his wife and son and they arrived at Fleenor's Fort, Washington County, Indiana April 1812. On Aug 18, 1845 Polly was thrown from a horse while on her way to visit relatives in Shelby County, Kentucky, and on Oct 3, 1845 Polly died in Oldham County, Kentucky from her August injuries. She was taken home and buried 3 1/2 miles north of Salem, Washington County, Indiana in Carter's Graveyard now known as Nicholson Cemetery.
