Myrtle married December 30, 1916 to Clarence Robert Kern (1891-1968), son of Adam Newton Kern (1861-1936) and Ladora Cloud (1861-1931). Myrtle died January 3, 1982 (aged 92) and is buried at Terre Haute Cemetery in Terre Haute, Henderson County, Illinois. Her known children include: Dorothy Elizabeth (nee "Kern") Walker (1920-2023), James Robert Kern (1923-2001) and Marcia Lucille (nee "Kern") Blythe (1926-1999).
