Jacob S. Addy, aged 78, a confederate veteran, died Friday night at the home of his son, J. G. Addy, 232 College street, Decatur. Besides his son, he is survived by three other children, Jacob S. Addy, Jr., of Atlanta; Mrs. Robert H. Morris, of Haddonfield, N. J., and Miss Alma Addy, an instructor in the Oklahoma College for Women, at Chickasha, Okla. A. S. Turner in charge.

Jacob S. Addy dies at Son's Residence
Jacob S. Addy, 78, confederate veteran, Mason and member of the Decatur Methodist church, died Friday night at the home of his son, J. G. Addy, 232 West College street. His death came suddenly.
Mr. Addy was a native of Coweta county, was a gallant soldier in the civil war, and was particularly engaged in the siege of Vicksburg. He was married 54 years ago to Miss Mary Couch, of Coweta county, who survives him. He is also survived by two sons, J. G. Addy, of Decatur, and Jacob S. Addy, Jr., of Atlanta; two daughters, Mrs. Robert H. Morris, of Haddonfield, N. J., and Miss Alma Addy, instructor in the Oklahoma College for Women, at Chickasha, Okla. Funeral arrangements have not been made.

Death of Former Well-Known Coweta Citizen
Funeral services for Mr. Jacob S. Addy, a distinguished Confederate veteran and widely-known Georgian, whose death occurred Friday at the home of his son, Mr. J. G. Addy, at Decatur, GA, was held Monday afternoon at the home, with Rev. J. H. Eakes officiating. Interment was in the Decatur cemetery. Those who served as pallbearers were Messrs. H. M. Stanley, Geo. M. Napier, Jas. R. George, M. L. Brown, J. A. McCrary and C. J. Sullivan. Mr. Addy was a native of Coweta County, but had been making his home in Decatur for the past 12 years. He was well-known throughout this section, and his death was the occasion of deep regret. Mr. Addy rendered distinguished service to the Confederacy in the War Between the States, the principal engagement in which he figured being the siege of Vicksburg. He was a member of the Masonic order and of the Decatur Methodist Church. Surviving him are his wife; two sons, J. G. Addy, of Decatur, and Jacob S. Addy, Jr. of Atlanta, and two daughters, Mrs. Robt. H. Morris, of Haddonfield, N. J. and Miss Alm Addy of Chichasha, Oklahoma. -- Atlanta Journal, 9th inst.
Deceased was the youngest son of the late Jacob Addy, one of Coweta's pioneer citizens, and was born and reared on the old home-place near Haralson. He had many friends throughout the county, as well, as numerous relatives, who learned of his death with much sorrow and regret. A sister, Mrs. Rebecca Perdue, of Atlanta, is the only one of a large family now left. he was the uncle of Mrs. Jas. E Brown, of this city.
