— DANVILLE — Gideon J. Wray, 60, of 85 Grubb Hill Road, passed away Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010, at Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey.
He was born Jan. 14, 1950, in Danville, a son of Lewis P. and Veda A. Worthington Wray.
Gideon was a 1967 graduate of Danville High School. He attended Bloomsburg University for a short while and served four years with the Air Force in Dayton, Ohio, maintaining B-52 bombers. Gideon received his bachelor's degree in business from Penn State University in 1975. In 1981, Gideon received his MBA from Bloomsburg University, and his CPA in 1997.
He was employed as an assistant accounting professor with the Business and Computer School at Pennsylvania College of Technology in Williamsport, and was previously employed as an accounting professor at Bloomsburg University as well as having been a partner in Wray Associates.
Gideon was a member of Stonington Baptist Church.
He was a member of Danville-Mahoning Lodge No. 224 F & AM where he served as Worshipful Master in 1988 and in 1991.
He enjoyed traveling, reading, socializing with friends, exploring his Scottish heritage, and working crossword puzzles.
He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Rita M. Schechter Wray, whom he married Oct. 18, 1998; one step-daughter, Michaela R. Bench, of Falls Church, Va.; also one sister, Dorothy A. Gardner and husband John, of Holcomb, N.Y.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Lewis V. Wray Sr. on Jan. 19, 2007.
A celebration of Gideon's life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Stonington Baptist Church, 2113 Hosta Road, Stonington, with the Rev. J. Douglas Hallman Sr. officiating.
Private burial will be in the church cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Visneski Funeral Home, Danville.
