George Dickson Rites
Here on November 21
At 3 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, November 21, 1956, funeral services for George Dickson were conducted at the Farris Funeral Home by the Rev. Hugh Marsh of the United Presbyterian Church. "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "Evening Prayer" were sung by Mrs. O.D. Meisenheimer, who accompanied herself at the organ. Casket bearers were; John Cooke, John Tipton, Clarence Willey, Herman Mace, Glenn Morris and Miles Tyler. Burial was in the Garnett Cemetery.
George Mack Dickson, son of David and Savilla Dickson, was born May 12, 1872, in Anderson County, Kansas. He died November 19, 1956, at his home on East Sixth Avenue in Garnett, at the age of 84 years, six months and seven days.
He was a farmer in his younger life and always a hard worker. His family always came first with him. He was always laughing and joking and was a man with many friends. He was married to Myrtle Jennie Ashburn February 17, 1906. Two children were born to this union, Orrin David of the home, and Eva Georgia, now Mrs. Fredrick Cline Jr. of Greeley. He had one granddaughter, Jennie Irene Cline. Three sisters preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, his son and daughter, his son-in-law and granddaughter along with one niece and six nephews. (D.A.E./Garnett Review Newspaper, November 29, 1956)
