GASTON - Services for John Daniel Shumpert, 86, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Ebenezer Pentecostal Holiness Church, conducted by the Reverend Lloyd Ackerman, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 7-9 this evening at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia.
Mr. Shumpert, widower of Ruth S. Shumpert, died Friday, September 7, 2001. Born in Lexington, he was a son of the late Emmanuel Joseph and Minnie Berry Shumpert. He attended Ebenezer Pentecostal Holiness Church and was a retired self-employed mechanic.
Surviving are 4 daughters, 2 sons, 1 sister, 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren. Mr. Shumpert was predeceased by a son, Carroll Shumpert.
