Florence Pingel

The Times last week briefly mentioned the death of Mr. George Pingel which occurred at her home at Tomahawk on Thursday, Jan. 17. The remains were brought to his city and taken to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wm Rau on Pennsylvania Ave., where the funeral services was held on Sunday, Rev. W. A. Arpke officiating.

Florence Eldridge, daughter of Henry and Mary Eldridge, pioneer settlers of the town of Charlestown, was born in that town May 15, 1882 and there grew to womanhood. A number of years ago she went to Klamath Falls, Oregon, to make her home with her sister and on Oct. 14, 1913 she was married at that place to George Pingel of Stockbridge who was then living in the west. In 1917 Mr. and Mrs. Pingel returned to Wisconsin, locating at Tomahawk, where her husband was engaged in the plumbing business. Some four years ago Mrs. Pingel’s health began to fail and although the best medical skill obtainable was secured she gradually grew weaker until death came as a relief to her suffering. Mrs. Pingel was a woman who made and retained friends by her happy disposition and agreeable manner and her death is deeply regretted by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, two brothers, Wilson and George Eldridge and two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Scott and Mrs. Wm Rau of this city.
