Jonathan Norman was the son of John Hamler-(1819-1865), and Catherine Maria Parshall-(1823-1880). He was the eldest. His siblings were: Emanuel, Jacob, Isaac, William Henry, Sarah Mariah, Elsie Ann, and Eliza Lucretia.

We know he was born in Union County, Ohio, by both the old Parshall genelogy record (copy attached); and the County records that report both his father, John Hamler and his brother, Isaac, of Union county died during the Civil War in North Carolina and Tennessee respectively.

On Feb 12, 1883 he married Mary Elizabeth Ober in West Salem, Ashland, Ohio. A copy of thier marriage license is attached. (She was born on November 14, 1854 in Plain, Wayne, Ohio, and died on September 16, 1893 in Wellington, Loraine, Ohio).

She was the eldest of Abraham Ober-(1829-?), and Caroline Creath Arbergast. (Her paternal grandparents were Henry B Ober-(1804-?), and Catherine Wheland-(1808-?)).

From this union were born: Carrie Caroline-1883, May Creath-1886, and Ray Abraham-1886.

According to his death certificate, (copy attached), he died at Lakeside Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio, on April 25, 1909. Sadly, it appears that someone from the hosptial tried to fill in his parentage. But what little they put down was not accurate. I don't know if they contacted family members or not.
