The Chronicle Telegram, March 31, 1951:
Van Orrin Gates
WELLINGTON-Van Orrin Gates, 59, died yesterday at Pleasantview Sanatorium. he had been ill for the past four weeks.
He is survived by his mother, Maude Gates of Penfield; one daughter Wilma and a son, Wilbur, both of Wellington and a son Melvin of Brunswick. A sister, Mrs. Blair Pierce of Penfield and a brother James Gates of Cleveland also survive.
Burial will be made in Greenwood Cemetery.
